Sucks to be Emma
Emma is having a rough time. Whatever bug is bugging her has gotten worse over the last day or so, resulting in a fever, a nasty cough, and difficulty breathing. Neither epi nor ventolin are proving enough relief tonight and the medical team is working to rule out various causes.
I spent the night at CHEO again with Emma, and we made a bunch of new friends in the wee hours including the resident, senior resident, respiratory therapist, xray technician, and a few more nurses. Unfortunately for Emma these new friendships came along with a set of xrays, blood samples, some physio on her chest, IV antibiotics, suctioning, and a lot of miscellaneous poking and prodding. She's requiring a bit less oxygen, but is still working much harder to breathe than she should have to.
Despite it all she's sleeping comfortably and I think I just saw a bit of a smile.
