Winterlude Fun

Though it is officially over now, the city hosted the 29th edition of our great Winter Celebration, Winterlude, this month.

Over the last three weekends, we visited four times and enjoyed all of the venues, including the Snowflake Kingdom at Jacques Cartier Park:

the ice sculptures at the Crystal Gardens in Confederation Park:

and, of course, the Rideau Canal Skateway:

We met the Icehogs:

[Big Sister thought they were a bit scary]

and had a yummy Beavertail:

The highlight for the girls, I think, was a play area where kids were able to build their own tiny, colourful inukshuks:

Emma got in on the action too:

and decided the ice blocks were better for building:

than tasting:

18 month update

Emma turned 18 months old last week. How on earth did that happen so quickly!? Wasn't she my teeny tiny baby only yesterday?

While she's not quite toddling yet (she's walking along/between furniture, but prefers her lightning-fast crawl when she wants to get somewhere quickly) she is constantly on the go. As I mentioned last week, she hardly ever stops and keeps us busy running after her...Heaven help us once she does start walking -- there will be no keeping up with her!

Emma went for her 18 month (14 month adjusted) medical check-up last week. She weighed 21 pounds 3 ounces (25-50th percentile for her adjusted age) and measured 30 inches (50th percentile). She also had 2 immunizations, but these didn't faze her a bit. She even smiled at the nurse while she gave her the needles!... We're going to CHEO next week for 2 more appointments (including an ENT follow-up), so I'll update more then.

There's not much more to report, so here are a few pics of Emma enjoying spaghetti and meatballs (well, with parmesan cheese and no sauce, thankyouverymuch). She loves the noodles and can slurp them up unbelievably fast! And, when she flings them, they stick so artistically to the wall :)

Finally, Eric is out of town this week, but he sent his girls some Valentine treats:

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

The Energizer Baby

In the short span of 20 minutes this afternoon, Emma dug the dirt out of a large potted plant in the playroom, crawled into the cat's litter box (thank goodness I had just cleaned it!), then dumped the contents of the cat's water bowl all over herself.

She *never* stops.

Mommy is tired.

And happy :)

She likes it, she really likes it!

Remember back when Emma wasn't very fond of Minigo:

Well, things have changed:

I apologize for this sorry excuse of an update.... we've been busy, but I promise I'll be back with a proper report soon :)
